🚙💨 The first Spyder is officially in our hands!
A few shots from the drive back from Tauranga today with our BMW Z4 and we couldn’t be happier with it.
The beginning of the Spyder fleet is finally here. 🕷️
There’s still plenty happening behind the scenes before we can hand over the keys to customers.
We’re currently waiting for the final rental compliance/licensing pieces to come through, while also working through rental agreements, insurance processes and building our new booking and vehicle handover system.
The aim is to make the whole experience as paperless as possible, from booking and driver details through to agreements, vehicle condition photos and handover.
🎯 Estimated launch: beginning of December.
And… one BMW definitely isn’t enough. 😏
We’re already working on car number TWO and potentially number THREE.

One last thing: as Spyder grows, we’ll also be launching a dedicated Spyder social page. It’ll make it much easier to keep the two sides of the business clear, with XtremeX continuing to focus on our supercar passenger experiences and Spyder focusing on self-drive roadster rentals, fleet updates and road-trip content.

It’s official — Spyder by XtremeX is officially underway.
There’s still plenty of work to do before launch — compliance, building the booking and management systems, finalising the experiences, and of course, building the fleet.
But we’ve now taken a pretty important first step.
We’re just finalising the purchase of our first Spyder car — a BMW Z4 2.5L M Sport roadster.
The current shortlist for the rest of the fleet includes:
* Mercedes-Benz SLK200 1.8 Turbo
* Mercedes-Benz SLK200 AMG 1.8 Turbo
* Mazda MX-5 (2015 MY)
We’re aiming to be ready around late November, assuming the compliance work and supporting systems are all completed in time.
And this is where we want your input.
If there’s a roadster or convertible you think would be perfect for Spyder, drop it in the comments below. There may be something great we’ve completely missed.
Sadly, we did miss the boat on the Fiat 124 Spider this time around 😭
